ANNOUNCEMENTS
Upcoming Hamfests:
There are no hamfests in Missouri or nearby Illinois during March.
March MINUTES
Meeting opened at 7:05 PM. Introductions went all around. The minutes were read, amended, and approved after amending (member-at-large and treasurer are only 1 year terms, and Mac K4CHS is the member-at-large currently).
Savings: $2,230.16
Checking: $1,731.88
Old Business:
The club is still looking for more vendors to be at this year’s Columbia hamfest. Also, it was discussed that several demonstrations could be done at the hamfest (HF introduction, satellites, etc.) Any ideas are appreciated on that.
The Missouri QSO party is coming up on April 7th & 8th. Dave (KVØS) said he’d be in his truck working a couple counties that way. Our club is likely to be participating at the Red Cross station on Worley. It was discussed that specialized awards could be given out for Missouri Worked All Counties, like working only on 80 meter CW or something of that nature. Speaking of MOWAC, the first certificate given out will be printed in the April 2007 issue of CQ, so be sure to look for it.
New Business:
It has been discovered that our club callsign has over 250 QSL cards waiting on eQSL. The idea mentioned at the meeting was to respond and verify the contacts (mostly made through Field Day and other contests).
So far Dave has 4 club programs this year. If you would like to do a program after a meeting, please be sure to talk with Dave. Any ideas on programs are appreciated. The March program will be on making a cheap dual-band antenna from hardware store parts.
Nathan (KCØLCS) brought up the method of sending out our club newsletter. When factoring in the cost of printing the newsletters plus postage (and sometimes envelopes), it costs the club approximately $20 per month to send print copies. Added up over a year, that’s about $240. Some members will only want a print copy, which is fine. But with the amount of members who have at least one email address, a good deal of money could be saved by printing and sending fewer copies. A list will be passed around at the next meeting to confirm who wants a print and/or email copy.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:46 PM. Afterward, Dave gave a talk on rare QSO’s and QSL cards. It was interesting to see all the unique locations that hams operate from.
That’s all for this month. Thanks to all who braved the weather to attend this month. Hope to see everybody at the March meeting!
73’s,
Nathan KCØLCS

Hams Discuss Amateur Radio on Local FM Station
Don, KMØR, and Dale, AEØS, were interviewed on the Eagle 93.9 by Derek Gilbert on "The Drive" during the 6 PM hour, Feb. 14th. They were featured in their capacities with ARES as Section Coordinator and District Coordinator, respectively. It was a great opportunity to talk to the general public about many aspects of ham radio. Great job guys!
