The meeting opened at 7:06 PM. Introductions went all around. The minutes were read, amended, and approved (I had said the Boone County Red Cross was no longer a chapter; in reality, it is now a sub-chapter).

Treasurer’s Report

Savings: $2,230.16

Checking: $1,588.56

Old Business: The hamfest date was talked about, and it probably will be on August 18th. The 25th is the rodeo in Ashland, so that’s out of the question. The 18th will be checked to see if it coincides with any other major hamfests in the area. As for the hamfest, the ARRL state convention will not be in Columbia next year. The folks at Lebanon have gotten a hold on it already, and the ARRL said that we need to get our 2008 application in soon if we want a chance at it then. Also, Jim & Bonnie will be unable to help with the kitchen next year, so we’ll need some folks willing to do that.

Tim (KCØTXW) and Daniel (KCØUTW) have agreed to be hamfest co-chairs for next year, so that’s been decided. It was discussed that maybe some programs could be presented at the hamfest, since the swapmeet part of it has been declining in recent years. The program would be on something such as PSK, satellites, or another mode of ham radio. The club also said that some hamfest brochures should be made up and passed out at upcoming hamfests.

An update on Missouri Worked All Counties. Dave has talked with Dale Bagley about it, and Mr. Bagley fully approves. Our first application for MOWAC has been received as well.

New Business: Dewey has proposed a little chat at each net about various organizations. It would only be about 5 minutes, and people could comment on ARES, the club, or other ham organizations they’re involved in.

The club’s email address, for anyone wishing to have it, is k0si@arrl.net. As of now, it goes to the current president.

It was brought up that the club’s callsign could maybe be used at next year’s Missouri QSO party. The contest is in April. We could have members operate from the club station or some such setup.

The nominating committee has been finalized. It consists of Bill (KCØACS), Dewey, Mac, Bob (KØYBN), and Don (KMØR). The election of officers will be in January.

Daniel & Tim are currently working on patches for CMRA & BCARES. The club patches would have the old CMRA logo on them.

A while back, a ham got on our repeater and made obscenities and bad remarks. As trustee of the repeater, Don Moore sent a letter asking that person not to be on the repeater anymore. Bob Jett helped draft the letter. Bob has a carbon copy of the letter, and also a copy has been sent to the FCC office in Kansas City. The issue has been resolved, and there is no longer a problem.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:53 PM. Afterward, we had a presentation by two men from MU on how radio telemetry factors in with wildlife research. It was a very interesting and informative program.

Hope to see everybody at the next meeting! Keep in mind that it will be at the Columbia Golden Corral on December 12th, 6:30 PM.

73’s, Nathan KCØLCS
