Minutes:  March meeting of the Central Missouri Radio Association.  Meeting began at 7:03 PM. Introductions all around. Twenty four were in attendance. The minutes were read and approved as written.

Treasurer’s Report:  Savings: $2,225.74;  Checking: $2,434.80

Old business: The handheld for sale from the deceased ham (KBØCDS) was agreed to be sold for $50. Here’s the information again. It’s a Heathkit HW-2P from around 1998. The battery has been uncharged since 1998, so Dale’s gonna check into seeing if it works. This would be a good rig for anyone doing APRS, GPS, or things like that. $50 is a good deal for a piece of equipment like this. Dale said he’d bring the HT to the next meeting, so it’ll be a good opportunity to see the radio in person. Anyone interested can contact Dale (AEØS) for more information.  (Note – the handheld has been sold.)

About the hamfest. The application for the ARRL State Convention was sent in, but no further word on that yet. The hamfest chairman (WØBUX) decided that the venue for the hamfest, which is the National Guard building in Columbia, would remain the same for this year. The other club members agreed on this. Hamfest co-chair for this year is up for grabs still. Would you like to learn the ropes of running a hamfest? Would you like to help Bob with the hamfest this year? If so, contact WØBUX.

As for the auction in July, Carol & Melody Smith have agreed to put it together.

The sidearm for the tower installation still isn’t up yet. The arm installation crew has been tapped, but no response from them yet.

New business: We have a new member for the club (Tim, KCØTXW), and a ham just filled out an application for membership (Robert Ball, WØVNO). We’ll vote on Mr. Ball at the next meeting in April.

A PL tone (127.3) was voted on and approved for the 146.760 repeater. This should help to lessen all the noise we’ve been hearing on the repeater lately. By using your DTMF pad and pressing two stars, you can deactivate the PL tone for 30 minutes of no activity (after which time the PL tone turns back on again). Please remember to add the PL tone into your memory settings so that you can access the repeater.

Central Missouri hams have been approved to set up the MS 150 this year. It runs on September 10th & 11th this year.

The bike race from last weekend (February 27th) was a success. The hams from the club did a great job with communications, and a good time was had by all. Thanks to those who participated and helped make this a great event.

There will be two weather spotter classes nearby in April. The first will be in Jefferson City, at the Sprint Building in Conference Room 1, on April 7th at 7:00 PM. The second will be in Fulton, at the St. Paul’s Lutheran church on April 14th at 6:30 PM. Hope to see some of you at one or the other of the classes. These weather classes are really good to go to, because Missouri’s bad weather season is soon approaching.  (News update: NWS will be holding a Weather Spotter Class in Columbia on Monday, April 25 at 6:30 p.m. in the 4th floor City Council Room of the Boone Building, 710 Broadway.)

Bob Jett (KØYBN) brought a vest to show off at the meeting. It’s a plastic and brightly colored vest, like the emergency personnel wear. Bob was ordering them from a local Columbia company.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:40 PM. There was a program scheduled, but the person doing the program wasn’t able to come. So, the meeting was finished.

Hope to see everyone at the next meeting.

73’s,

Nathan KCØLCS
