Weather Spotting

In the event of severe weather, CMRA and Boone County ARES provide weather spotting service to local officials at Joint Communications and to the National Weather Service. Weather nets are normally heard on 146.610, PL 127.3. If that repeater isn’t on the air, go to 146.760, PL 127.3.

For more information about local weather nets, see BCARES Net Control Station Standard Operating Procedures.

The CMRA sponsors the 444.425 repeater which is our input to the ShoMeIntertie link to St. Louis. It is the Columbia entry to the National Weather Service via the Intertie system. View info about the system here.

Individuals may also provide information to the National Weather Service via the SKYWARN program.

The Glovebox Guide contains information of use to local hams, including what to report to the National Weather Service, important phone numbers, and useful local frequencies.
